Can I rearrange the slides?

Yes, you can place the slides in any order you want.  Feel free to customize it to best meet the needs of your students and to reflect the order in which you cover the topics throughout the year.

Are the 6th grade math daily warm ups problems editable?

100%.  The only part that is a little more difficult to edit are the images such as number lines, coordinate grids, and some of the math font such as fractions.  However, Equatio is a free Google extension you can download which is used to create your own fractions and other math font if you need to edit any of the problems.

Is there an answer key?

Yes.  Following each slide is the answer key so teachers can easily display to students or use as a reference when going over the problems.

Why isn't this resource self-grading or self-checking?

Many of the activities students participate in lead to rich discussions.  Having a self-graded activity takes away from the student experience.  For example, many of the “Would You Rather Wednesday” questions do not have a single correct answer.  In fact, they require students to think in depth about the content area.

Furthermore, “Friend Check Friday” gets students discussing and checking their answers with each other.  This math discussion would be lost in a self-checking resource.

Additionally, “Take Out the Trash Tuesday” would be much less challenging for students if instant feedback were provided.  However, if this is something you are interested in, check out my “Tech Tip” Stories on Instagram to see how you can easily change these particular slides to be self-checking.

Do students really enjoy the warm-ups?

Let’s face it, it’s still math and some students just don’t enjoy math.  However, the students appreciate the consistency and variety the resource provides.  My students especially enjoy “Trash It Tuesday”, Would You Rather Wednesday” and “Friend Check Friday”

Are there 6th grade math warm up worksheets available for printing?

Yes.  There are two templates available for students to handwrite their work and answers if this method of recording answers is desired.  However, the questions appear on the Google Slides only, not on the printable pages.

This seems complicated. How much time does it take to prep each week?

Most teachers have their entire week worth of slides picked out, perfected with the edits they need, and posted for their students within five to ten minutes.  This resource is low prep.  Also, after prepping the slides once, many teachers reuse them year after year with absolutely no prep time during subsequent years.
